Blue Heron Lake | Josh:Brittany

Blue Heron Lake in October

I had never heard of Blue Heron Lake before Brittany had told me they where getting married there, it is fairly close just in Ashtabula and truly is a hidden little gem. This venue is the ideal place for the couple looking for a truly rustic and intimate wedding. It has beautiful old barns and building on a lake and has amazing spots for portraits! It was such a unique venue and I would love to go back.

Wedding, Reception, and everything inbetween

October is always hit or miss for the weather, and this day was pretty ideal! While it was just a touch chilly, a light jacket ( or carrying around another human 😉 ) made it perfect. Josh and Brittany had a fairly small wedding, and it was perfect. It was so intimate, and they had the chance to spend time with all of their guests. Brittany’s bouquet was fabulous, it was the perfect mix of color and greenery as well as SUCCULENTS, I have never photographed a succulent bouquet and it was so beautiful and elegant. When we first met, she shared her love for succulents, and right away, I knew we’d be perfect for each other because I to love them; I’m just terrible at keeping them alive, haha!

Their ceremony overlooked the lake, and Josh and Brittany had their dogs walk down the aisle <3. It was so sweet and a first for me! We had some AUH-MAZING light during their bridal portraits, and I am in love with SO many of them, it was SO hard not blog 200 of them.

Josh and Brittany are so natural in front of the camera; it made portraits go so fast and so smooth. The reception was family style galley tables with beautiful flowers decorating them. Another first for me was wood-fired pizza! There were so many types of pizza, and it was SO good, it was unique and who doesn’t love pizza!? From hot chocolate, Instax pictures, board games, a crazy creative guest book, and pups, this reception was full of firsts for me and was such a quaint and intimate party full of family and people that mean the most to Josh and Brittany.

This wedding was the first to kick off our super busy October, and if the rest of the month goes half as well, it is going to be incredible. I am so thankful for all of my couples this year and have had the honor to document some pretty incredible wedding days. This business has brought more than just an income or job to me, but quality friendships that I know will last for a long time <3
